You may have noticed I started making jumpsuits and putting them on Etsy. Today I want to share three reasons I I started the Juniper Robyn maternity line:
1 – Right after Gemmas was born I wanted something comfortable, fashionable, and baby friendly. I was shocked when early motherhood seemed to require an entirely different wardrobe. I needed to be able to nurse, fine fabrics were a disaster waiting to happen, and my old jeans just didn’t feel good yet. I’d grown a baby in my body for 9 months, been in labor for many hours, and now I was nourishing a new baby. I should have been in awe of what my body could do. Instead I was frustrated that nothing looked good. I wanted something I could wear before, during and after pregnancy. The wheels started turning.
2 – When I got pregnant I wanted to make my normal clothes last through my pregnancy as much as possible. “Maternity Clothing” sounded so drab. No, thank you. I was on the hunt for the gold standard of non-maternity clothing that could go the whole nine months. I only bought 3 self-described maternity items, and I wasn’t totally happy with any of them. I wanted to make an item that would look good on it’s own, and take me through pregnancy and beyond. I wanted a do-everything jumpsuit. The wheels were already turning, and I started designing.
3 – I’ve been sketching and sewing since I was a little girl and I have always dreamed of running my own business. Working on Juniper Robyn is like inching to the top of a roller coaster – I am so excited about how fun it is and I am terrified of putting my designs out into the world and risking failure. I started Juniper Robyn to follow a dream and push beyond my comfort zone.
Join me on this journey! I want to connect with as many people as I can; I have so much to learn and I’m looking to you. Leave a comment or DM me with advice, feedback or love.
